Cigarettes
The Federal government should not be able to tell us how to live our
life or develop a system of social engineering through taxation that
subverts the will of the people. Quite literally, a tax on cigarettes is
the Federal Government interfering into our every day lives even if it
so for our good. No product or good deserves to be unfairly singled out
or tax at an arbitrary rate that the government decides on. We, the
American people, should be free to make choices for ourselves and the
Constitution quite clearly leaves this right to the discretion of the
States and there is where it should reside. There should be no taxes on
cigarettes above and beyond what there is upon any other product unless
the state decides differently. |
